Inaugural Scholars Reception Raises $500K for the Alexis M Herman Scholars Endowment Fund

The Dorothy Irene Height Education Foundation (DIHEF) is proud to look back on a wonderful reception held on Sunday, September 13th, honoring Secretary Alexis M. Herman and rolling out an additional leg of scholarships in her name.

Secretary Herman holds a historic legacy as the first Black woman to serve as the United States Secretary of Labor. For over half a century, her tireless work has advanced policies that uplift the social and economic well-being of underrepresented communities.

Impact Highlights:

  • The Mission: The Alexis M. Herman Scholarship attracts and financially supports young Black women pursuing careers in public and community service.
  • The Milestone: We are thrilled to celebrate a stunning $500,000 contribution received during the event to launch the Alexis M Herman Scholars Endowment Fund
  • The Gratitude: We received an incredible response from our dedicated network of supporters who turned out to honor Secretary Herman’s lifetime of leadership.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making our inaugural reception a historic success!
